This standard was issued by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and is part of the European standard series EN 1474, which concerns liquefied natural gas and its related installations.
The BS EN 1474:2020 standard establishes technical specifications, safety requirements, and installation procedures for equipment and infrastructures involved in the transportation, storage, and utilization of liquefied natural gas. The standard is important to ensure that installations and equipment for liquefied natural gas are designed, constructed, and operated safely and efficiently, thereby contributing to environmental protection and the safety of operators.

Patented and designed to meet the most specific needs of the cryogenic field, the Cryotec composite hose can operate at temperatures as low as -196°C (-320.8°F) and pressures up to 25 bar.

All the different layers are overlapped with predefined angles and overlaps, and then compressed between two spirals, an internal one and an external one. This construction ensures flexibility even at the lowest and extreme operating temperatures for which this hose is designed, guaranteeing better overall performance compared to other types of flexible hoses or loading arms. Cryotec allows for smooth accommodation of any vessel movements during transfer operations.

All Compotec® Cryotec composite hoses are currently covered by Lloyd’s Register Type Approval for the EN 13766:2019 standard, which specifies requirements for two types of flexible hoses and multi-layered hoses made of thermoplastic material for the transfer of liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied natural gas.

There are two types for this product: Type 1 for LPG and Type 2 for LNG (which will be approved according to the EN 1474:2020 standard). Each type is divided into two classes, one for Onshore use (Class A) and one for Offshore use (Class B). These composite hoses for liquefied gas transfer represent the most important part, in terms of construction and technology, of the wide range of non-metallic flexible hoses offered by Compotec® division of the Matec® Group.

100% resistant to aromatics and antistatic, Compotec® Cryotec composite hoses can be used for both suction and delivery. Moreover, they can be connected using a wide range of stainless steel fittings always available.

The arrival of Type Approval LR for Compotec® Cryotec is expected by the end of the year. Contact us for more information!
